In other Gonzo news

Artist Ed ‘Gonzo’ Stross, with whom my family has had some dealings, has gotten into some trouble recently. Apparently Roseville finds bare breasts and the word love objectionable. It just strikes me as odd that artists enjoyed more freedom five centuries ago in Papal Rome than today in the U.S. Of course, then there was a similar reaction, but nowhere near as outrageous. In the Creation of Adam, there is a lot more than just breasts. Even if I could understand the breasts, what is wrong with love? I guess that’s just what you get.

    Old Time Religion
The latest news from the Traditional Values front comes to us from Roseville, Michigan, where we find that the defenders of public decency are…

Well the city rules for roseville are that there is no words allowd on the side of a building. It is a distraction to the people. The whole painting on the side of the building isn’t even really suppose to be up there because it promotes business for gonzos studio. There is also a rule about how many square footage of business promotion there is allowd. So i think the city is being very nice and letting him keep his painting up. I also believe that that is bullshit how everyone is making a big deal out of it. If the city wanted to they could take his whole damn painting down. So stop all your bitching about the word “love” no being able to be seen on the side of a building. Its not that specific word its any word. Its just not allowd and thats something everyone will have to deal with.

Might makes right, y’all. Remember that. Because if gonzo voluntarily agreed to those rules, he doesn’t seem to be showing it.

If the city wanted to they could take his whole damn painting down, and steal…err… confiscate his studio, and have the local cops find an excuse to beat his head in nice and good. So stop all your bitching about the word “love” no being able to be seen on the side of a building. Its not that specific word its any word, because the city government owns your ass. It owns that wall, it owns that studio, and it owns you, and the proof of all those things is in the fact that they can, at their whim, dispose of those things. Private property is just not allowd and thats something everyone will have to deal with so shut up and move along, Citizen, before you bump into a squad car and get your little feelings hurt.

Since when did the freedom of speech and the freedom of expression have arbitrary limitations?

I have lived in Roseville for many years, and we just recently moved out of the area. I always looked forward to the most beautiful pictures i’ve seen in a loooog time. I miss seeing them. When we came to Roseville last week to see our daughter I was reminded again that he is a fantastic artist, and a good person. I will always look forward to what the great wall will look like tomorrow. I will pray for you!
